NINE wins gold Pentaward
for Hinoki
Hinoki is a range of travel-sized, organic skin care products in a biodegradable paper container. The concept is based on simplicity, single-origin and a respect for the re-neweable material applied to a currently quite un-sustainable and packaging category.
The structural design concept of Hinoki is created using the form language of origami as a means of being true to the value of the material, and this ethos permeates the concept. Each bottle uses one piece of laminated paper, folded and pressed into shape, with a tear-off corner revealing a Hinoki wood twist cap. The result is a tactile, natural skin care range with a premium value that comes not from artificial inflation but rather an honest representation and respect for the value of both packaging materials and the product experience.
Imagine one of L’Oreal or P&G premium brands revolting against the un-sustainable over-packed glass and plastic solutions today by creating and investing in a more sustainable and differentiating solution.
The concept is based on existing material and technology and is currently in the process of up-scaling. NINE and BillerudKorsnäs is looking for one brand owner partner per category and segment – with a brand value positioning and first mover ambition into more sustainable solutions – to develop concepts together with us based on a solution that is projected to be on the market within 24-36 months.
